With
today’s rising energy costs and the threat of global warming, harnessing
the power of the sun for domestic hot water production and space heating
makes both economic and environmental sense.
Producing domestic hot water can account for up to
$1,200.00 of your yearly energy bill. If you rely on an electric hot water
heater your costs could be even higher. During the winter months even
with the shorter day light hours, a solar system can substantially
reduce the amount of fossil fueled energy required to raise your
domestic hot water to its operating temperature. This is also true for
those cloudy days we experience year round. Every Btu of solar energy
you can harvest out of a system reduces your fossil fuel footprint.
Solar energy can also supply 50% or more of your space heating needs,
especially when used in conjunction with a low temperature
radiant heat system or fan coil units. After much
exhaustive research and comparing many different manufacturers, we are
extremely pleased that we made the decision to incorporate Heliodyne’s
“Gobi” Flat Plate Solar Collectors in our domestic hot water,
pool and space
heating solar systems. Heliodyne, an American Company has been one of
the top manufacturers in the thermal solar business for over 30 years
and has an excellent history of performance, durability and reliability.
Heliodyne’s Gobi Collectors have some of the highest SRCC ratings (solar
rating certification center) when compared to the competition.
Heliodyne's parallel header design ensures equal
flow thru each collector resulting in higher efficiencies and heat
transfer.
Other manufacturers are still using serpentine looping in
their collector systems. These type of collectors are cheaper to
produce, cheaper to install, are piped in a series and do not provide
year round performance. These systems claim to provide 75% of your
annual hot water usage, but our experience is that you should not expect
to see more than about 60% to 65% in reality.
Many of the pre-engineered or packaged solar systems utilize glass or
enamel lined solar storage tanks that have a warranty of 5 to 7 years.
We only use stainless steel storage tanks in our systems that have a
lifetime warranty.
A
domestic hot water solar system designed and installed by Mechanical
Innovations Inc. utilizing Gobi flat plate collectors will supply
upwards of 80% of your domestic hot water needs year round. We
have the technical and practical experience to analyze your hot water
needs and design a system that will perform. Why settle for a
basic “packaged or pre-engineered” one size fits all solar system when
for a few dollars more you can have best!
